The Dublin Chamber of Commerce will host a public debate for the 14th Congressional District on Monday, October 7, from 5:00–7:00 PM at the Holiday Inn Dublin. Both candidates—Congressmember Aisha Wahab and BART Board President Melissa Hernandez—have been invited to participate as they compete for the full-term seat vacated by Eric Swalwell.
The 90‑minute debate will be moderated by Juliette Goodrich, journalist with KPIX‑5, and professionally produced by Amos Productions of Livermore.
The program will follow established debate ground rules, including timed answers, rebuttals, and closing statements. The moderator may offer clarifying follow‑up questions at her discretion. A timekeeper will be present.
Audience participation will be limited to ensure a respectful environment. Cheering, booing, signs, hand gestures, and personal recording are not permitted. Each candidate will receive an allocation of 20 reserved seats for supporters. Campaign materials may be displayed only in the hotel lobby, where press interviews will also take place following the debate.
“This election is an important one for the residents of Dublin, the Tri‑Valley and the entire East Bay,” said Dublin Chamber CEO Inge Houston. “The Dublin Chamber is proud to provide this debate as a service to the community. The voters will have an opportunity to see the candidates in action before they cast their vote.”
